The 40th Camillo Golgi Prize from the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) is awarded to Mikael RYDEN, head of Endocrinology Unit, Dep of Medicine, Karolinska Institutet.
This distinguished award celebrates outstanding contributions to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of diabetes complications and Prof. Rydén’s work is a shining example of scientific excellence in this field.
Over a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years, Prof. Rydén has led pioneering research into the vital role of white adipose tissue in metabolic health and disease. His work has reshaped our understanding of adipocyte biology, offering crucial insights into insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and related metabolic disorders, paving the way for new therapeutic strategies.
The EASD will payed tribute to him at the 61th annual meeting of association from the 15th to 19th September 2025 in Vienna (Austria).
About the Camillo Golgi Prize
This prize recognises outstanding contributions in the field of the histopathology, pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of the complications of diabetes mellitus.
