The Grand Prix Émile Jungfleisch 2023 is awarded to Bruno ANTONNY, CNRS research director at the Institut de Pharmacologie Moléculaire et cellulaire (CNRS/Université Côte d'Azur).

With his team, Bruno ANTONNY has shown that membrane curvature is cellular information, that the lipid PI(4)P is a currency for transporting cholesterol, and that polyunsaturated lipids promote membrane deformation. These discoveries demonstrate the importance of membrane shape and composition for cell dynamics.

The Académie payed tribute to him at the awards ceremony under the dome of the Institut de France on the 21st of November 2023.
